There is three ways to solve a system of 2 equations. The first is by graphing, or just putting the 2 equations into desmos and seeing where the lines cross. The second is substitution, when using substitution you solve one of the equations then plug it back into the other equation. The third is elimination. Elimination is when you either add or subtract the 2 equations to get one of the variables. My favorite is graphing because its the easiest.

To find the equation of a line you need to have a few points then find the slope. Say the points you have are (1,4) and (2,8). To find the slope you use the equation M= y2-y1 divided by x2-x1. You plug in the numbers so its m= 8-4 divided by 2-1. Simplify it and you get 4 over 1, which is just 4. That's your slope. Next, you need to put it into slope intercept form. You need to use the point slope equation, which is y-y1=m(x-x1). Plug in the numbers and you get y-4=4(x-1). distribute and you get y-4=4x-4. add 4 to both sides and you should get y=4x
x= centimeters y= inches The graph goes up. it has a slope of 2.54.
Each point represents an inch There is 30.48 cm in a foot |
